Nothing warms our hearts more than when our young friends go out of their way to raise money for us.
Such is the case of Jake and Julia Madsen from Sayville. They are 10 and 6 years old respectively.
The children got the idea to take some money out of their savings account and buy some supplies to make a gift basket (put together with the help of their Grandmother Carol Madsen) and then sell raffle tickets.
At first they set up a table (complete with table cloth) in front of their home and then subsequently loaded up their wagon with the basket and took to the streets of their hometown selling more. They sold so much that they raised $600 for us which was presented at our annual Golf and Dinner Outing on September 17th.
If that wasn’t enough, the lucky winner of the basket sent a video to the kids thanking them and asking that they donate the basket to a local child going through treatment. Jake and Julia will be presenting the basket to a young girl in the area.
Can everybody give a “Woo-Woo” for these two amazing young kids and their equally amazing parents for teaching them to be such great young people.
Thank you Jake and Julia Madsen. We are so thankful to you for thinking about us and so proud of you as an example of what our young people can be.
