Our 10th Annual Holiday Party Brings in the Families
12/03/06 - Our annual
Holiday Party brought the children and their families together with
their peers for an afternoon of fun, laughter, food, music and
dancing, and of course, a visit from that jolly old elf himself,
Santa. Besides the gifts that each child and their siblings
received, Santa greeted each child personally (see Santa Photos).
Over 240 people attended.
The children also had a
chance to dance with their favorite character as our student
volunteers out did themsel ves to keep the children up and "shakin'
it" all afternoon long. The craft tables were
going all party long as well and were visited by all of the children
at some point or another. We can not thank our
volunteers enough. From those that ran the kitchen and kept us fed, to
our student volunteers, and our friends that helped in every way.
We also had a special visit from our friends at "Dance Blvd."
The dance team was spectacular and really treated the kids
to a great show. We would also like to thank the Riverhead
Moose Lodge for allowing us to use their facility for this event. A special thank you to
all of the businesses and individuals that donated food, baked
goods, and other goodies for the afternoon.
Also, we can not forget
to thank all of the young people who donated their time the day of
the event. Maria Re-Kilmartins' Religion Class from Saint
Mark's Church. The young ladies from the Suffolk County Girl
Scouts Troop #2829, Suffolk County Girl Scouts Troop #3838, Suffolk
County Girl Scouts Troop #161. Also, the young gentlemen from
Suffolk County Boy Scouts Troop #161.
And of course, we could
never forget to thank Stacey and Jimmy Clutter and their youth group
who worked so hard to make the day a success.
